27 Mar “Building a Life Out of Words” by Shawn Smucker
Anne Lamott, in her book Bird by Bird, talks about how she would loathe the success of other writers, secretly wishing for their demise. That is how I feel toward my friend Shawn. I constantly wish for his demise but that doesn’t seem to happen.
Instead, he has carved out a life for himself as the writer I’ve always known him to be. He was born for words and offers them up with grace and humility.
Please check out his new book which chronicles his bold move into full-time writing and how he has been able to keep dodging my wishes for his failure.
Shawn’s book addresses what it is like to not only step out as a writer, but to step out and take the chance at doing what you love. He has also brought in some other writers to share their experiences. It is a must if you are in question as to the path you are on, and it is also just a great read.
It’s only $3.99. Seriously. That’s how nice he is.
