27 Oct The Fly
There once was a fly who was stuck inside a box. It became all that it knew, forgetting life outside the box. As far as it could remember, it was always inside this box. As it continuously flew into the walls of the box it grew deeper into despair, feeling as though there was something fundamentally wrong with it. Something in its being knew there was a greater area to fly within but it’s brain only knew the inside of this box. Why was this? Well its brain created a whole meaning making system to understand the interior of the box. It began to calculate the area and practice flying in such a small space. It began to solve its problem with rational solutions. It began to find ways to improve its life inside the box in ways that made it feel better about itself. But sometimes it’s deeper being would forget the rationalizations and run itself into walls again. Confused, the fly would get down on itself again, feeling like a failure within the system it created.
